School presentations, bookstore signings, library story time, creative writing camps? I'm happy to attend them all. Whether there are 10 students or 400, one hour or all day, there is a high energy presentation ready for them.
Best of all, kids get to see that reading and writing can take us places! In all my school presentations I show children where books have taken me. On the page, or in real life, books take us on adventures!
My Classroom Presentations
Lead the Charge: 2nd – 5th grade *MOST POPULAR*
With Lead the Charge students learn about the publishing industry and then we dive into the Leads Series (She Leads: The Elephant Matriarch, He Leads, Mountain Gorilla, the Gentle Giant, and They Lead: The Wolf Pack).
We talk about different family dynamics, habitat adaptations, verbal and nonverbal communication and the underlying theme is "What makes a good leader?" The ultimate lesson I leave them with is that every great leader starts off small and they all have the ability to do great things.
Wild About Books: Pre K – 2nd grade
This presentation encompasses creativity publishing, art, failure, growth mindset, and revision. Creative writing lessons with interactive "writing". *We "write" out loud together with picture prompts, 5-word stories, and group story building. These activities are great for 5-minute writing sprints later in class. Plus, great animal facts, information on research and primary sources, and all the fun things that didn’t make it into the books.
This presentation is all about getting young readers excited about books, spark curiosity, and showing them that everyone is an artist and is creative. And of course, fun animal facts.
Sometimes we all bring our favorite stuffed animal to read with. I usually bring Oddball, my okapi.
Creative Writing: 3rd - 6th (preferred for smaller groups, 30 or less ideal)

I'm happy to tweak presentations to fit interest and match up with other activities the classes are working on.
